Well, we have made it to the last month of the school year. Can you believe that we are almost done with your child's third grade year? We have a little bit more work to do and some fun activities to round out our year.
Reading and Math Calendars are due on MONDAY!!! Please have your child put it in their bookbag right now so they don't forget it.
During Reading, we will be finishing up Module 8 with the Edison's Best Invention quiz on Monday and the Module 8 test on Tuesday. After that we will be reading the stories for the last Module for fun. I will not be testing on these stories as I am starting to put grades on report cards for the last trimester. We will also be working on a 3rd grade Memory Book that will come home on the last days of school.
I am trying to get everyone's Writing finished and printed out. Many students took their work home over the weekend. They should be finishing their reports this weekend so we can print them out on Monday or Tuesday. This will be their last writing grade of the year, so I need to grade them and get them on the report card.
We have finished with the Math textbook and our last few graded assignments. We are now working on some activities to keep our skills fresh. We will be making Geometry Dodecagon Balls, creating zoos, playing 24 Challenge, Multiplication BINGO, and a Math Jeopardy game.
During Social Studies we are finishing up Chapter 11 in our book about local community government and then we will finish Chapter 12 about having a voice in our communities and voting responsibly.
There are many other fun and interesting activities which will take us to the end of the year.
-
Our students did such a wonderful job on their Year End Diagnostic, that we were able to fill up our Panther Pride Board. They voted for their class prize and chose to have an extra recess. We will be having that extra Monday afternoon. The weather should be nice, but it won't be too hot.
-
On June 3rd the students will get to meet our new principal, Mrs. McCreary. We will have an assembly where we will get to listen to her and ask questions.
-
Students who sign up for the drum test will take the test on Thursday, June 5th.
-
Literacy Night will be this Thursday evening, starting at 6. I will be there, and I hope to see many of you there as well.
-
On Monday, June 9th the students will participate in a grade level dance party to celebrate all classes filling in over 200 spaces on their class Panther Pride Boards. Students should wear their dancing shoes:)
-
We have ½ days on the 11th, 12th, and 13th. Dismissal will begin at 12:30 PM. We will not have recess on these days, but we will have lunch. Students can bring their own lunch from home, or you will need to order a bag lunch from the cafeteria using the form that was sent home on Friday. The cafeteria will not be open for lunches on those days.
-
We will be having a 3rd grade gathering on one of the ½ days. Students will be able to sign autograph books and a shirt if they like. Many students usually wear their Field Day shirts on this day. The exact date will come home soon.
-
On the last day of school, the students will either be participating in or watching the first ever Teacher vs. Student Kickball Game.
If you have any questions about the end of the year, please don't hesitate to reach out.
